Nationwide Program: ‘Intelligent Transportation Communication Systems’ delegation trip to Germany
The German American Chamber of Commerce of the Midwest (GACCoM) is accepting applications for the 4th Transatlantic Program – Young Technology Leaders (TAP-YTL) through Tuesday, March 20, 2012. TAP-YTL offers 12 selected delegation members the chance to participate in an 8-day trip to Germany focused on “Intelligent Transportation Communication Systems” from May 20-28, 2012. Germany is recognized as a worldwide leader for intelligent transportation communication systems due to a combination of prominent research institutes, premium automotive suppliers, and an extremely sophisticated transportation infrastructure.
SPECIFIC PROGRAM AGENDA
During the 8-day intensive delegation, participants will visit the following:
•Munich: electric mobility communication innovation at Siemens Corporate Research and Technologies; introduction to “the Software Car” & networking with peers at research hubfortiss GmbH, Technical University Munich; Car-to-x communication at BMW (TBD)
•Frankfurt region: introduction to German traffic modeling & management at the Center for Integrated Traffic Systems ZiV, Darmstadt University of Technology; new communication systems at Germany’s largest regional public transportation association RMV; advanced mobile applications , data storage and security measures at Deutsche Bahn (TBD)
•Berlin: presentation of the world’s first satellite-based truck toll system toll collect; access to German policy makers on federal level and outlook on transportation communication policy regulations and data protection measures
• Young professionals and students in the fields civil engineering, transportation engineering, electrical engineering, computer science/information technology, and urban planning
• Interest in communication technology for intelligent vehicles and transportation infrastructure
• Basic knowledge of German preferred – German majors and minors are welcome!
• Interest in modern Germany
• Current U.S. Resident
