The Transportation Trades Department, AFL-CIO (TTD) is seeking a Policy Analyst to help support its legislative and regulatory activities. TTD consists of 32 affiliated unions that represent workers employed in all modes of transportation. TTD primarily engages in legislative and policy advocacy before Congress, the Executive Branch, and independent agencies on transportation-related issues. TTD also promotes its agenda through media outreach and online advocacy.
The Policy Analyst will focus on monitoring and analyzing regulatory and legislative developments of importance to our member unions. Specifically, the Policy Analyst will be required to review the Federal Register to identify relevant regulatory notices and draft written explanations to TTD affiliates. The person will be responsible for tracking affiliate interest in pending regulations and working with TTD’s policy staff to draft written comments when warranted. The position will also require careful monitoring of legislative proposals, congressional mark-ups and hearings, and policy announcements from the Administration.
Excellent writing skills are mandatory for this position, and you will be asked to provide writing samples if you are a finalist for this job. Candidates should have two years of relevant experience in a congressional, government affairs or related advocacy organization. We are a small, fast-paced office and candidates must have the ability to handle multiple tasks and work on tight deadlines. The candidate must share the goals of the labor movement.
