Want to go to the AASHTO Annual Meeting this November, all expenses paid?
If so, the state transportation departments would like to hear from you! The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) is collaborating with Young Professionals in Transportation to feature the best and brightest young minds in the field of transportation at this year’s AASHTO Annual Meeting on Sunday 18 November 2012 in Pittsburgh, PA. Unlike a YPT Leadership Seminar where we receive advice from established leaders, this is a unique opportunity to communicate young professionals’ visions and ideas to state DOT heads and other senior leaders. And unlike the stereotype, this is not your father’s AASHTO-the Association is interested in hearing ideas and issues across all modes of transportation. There are multiple formats where your ideas will be featured: plenary session in front of 700+ attendees, keynote presentation over lunch, and in breakout sessions examining business and finance, communications, engineering, policy. If you’re interested, there are two ways to get involved:
1. Presentation Proposal: Nominate yourself or your friends and colleagues by sending us an abstract of your transportation idea. This can be on any topic, and we’re open to both practical and conceptual solutions to a pressing transportation challenge. 2. Issue Area to Examine: Let the state DOTs know which pressing transportation issues to examine and address. Either type of entry should be no longer than one paragraph. Winning entries for both presentations and topic suggestions will receive an all-expenses paid trip-including airfare, meals, lodging, and registration fee-to Pittsburgh to attend the 2012 AASHTO Annual Meeting.
