Ned Devine’s in Boston’s Faneuil Hall Marketplace. Come welcome and meet Dr. Beverly Scott. Dr. Scott is responsible for managing the MBTA, the Commonwealth’s 15 Regional Transit Authorities (RTAs), and MassDOT’s freight and passenger rail program.

Prior to coming to the MBTA Dr. Scott served as Chief Executive Officer/ General Manager of the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA). She was appointed to head MARTA in 2007 by the MARTA Board of Directors—the first female executive to hold this position.

The main line was completed in 1923 after 9 years of construction; President Warren G. Harding traveled to Alaska for the occasion and personally drove in the Golden Spike to finish the job. In 1943, the Railroad completed a 12-mile spur to the tiny port town of Whittier.
