NYC Event: May 22 Technical Presentation and Happy Hour

We recognize that many of our members are doing awesome work, and love to hear their success stories. Please join us on May 22 for a technical presentation from Grace Baird of URS Corporation, who will be share her story about how she entered the field of catenary engineering.

GraceGrace Baird became passionate about transportation at an early age thanks to its constant presence in her life while growing up in Manhattan. After graduating in 2008, Grace joined an engineering design firm in the Rail Transit group where she was exposed to a variety of rail related disciplines including: Catenary (OCS), Track, Traction Power, Signals, and Structures. OCS was the best fit and the rest is history!

Grace will share some of her experiences as an OCS engineer, and go over some interesting projects she has worked. You’ll leave with a better understanding of what an OCS engineer does and how that fits into the bigger picture of electrified rail projects from streetcars to high speed rail.

After the technical presentation, please join us for a spring Happy Hour at Local West’s rooftop beer garden, following the technical presentation. Please click here to register. (You can attend either event, independently, or both.) The events are co-sponsored by the ASCE, Metropolitan Section, Younger Member Forum.
