NYC Job Alert: RPA Associated Planner

Regional Plan Association is seeking a talented urban planner, economist, or policy analyst to undertake research, analyze data, and develop policy programs to identify and advocate best practices in transportation, environmental, and land use initiatives. Candidates should share RPA’s passion for fostering thriving, healthy cities, and communities. RPA, a nonprofit urban-planning organization, focuses on the strategic government and business decisions that will shape the New York-New Jersey-Connecticut region’s overall well-being for the next generation. These include major infrastructure, urban planning, housing, environment, and climate policies and investments.

Applicants should have several years of work experience and a relevant masters-level degree. RPA is seeking someone with a deep understanding of urban planning and policy issues as well as a demonstrable track record finding, analyzing and presenting data in a compelling way. Applicants should possess excellent analytical, writing, and presentation skills. Experience working in teams is essential, as is some knowledge of GIS and statistics tools.

Typical projects include analysis of census or other data; presentation of results in written and graphic formats; coordination with project partners and decision-makers; and presentation of results at public conferences and workshops. Thinking creatively about tools, data, and strategies to support RPA’s high-quality planning and policy work is always encouraged.
