The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan association representing highway and transportation departments in the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. It represents all five transportation modes: air, highways, public transportation, rail, and water. AASHTO is seeking to hire a part-time transportation policy intern to work 15 to 20 hours per week at their Washington, DC headquarters location. The position would be under Ms. Janet Oakley, Director of Policy and Government Relations and would support the Program Directors for Planning and Policy; Environment; and Intermodal Activities. The selected person will work in areas such as transportation planning, intermodal affairs, environment, performance management, asset management, and SHRP2 implementation. Job functions would include policy research and analysis; committee support (e.g., meeting development, web site maintenance); and project support (report writing, analysis, etc.).
