Position Description
The purpose of this position is to conduct research in transportation modeling, transportation planning, and multimodal travel forecasting; Provide training, technical and analytical support in travel modeling; Prepare professional and technical reports documenting research and data analysis; Prepare professional quality tables, charts, graphics, and representation of data for reports and presentations; and work directly with sponsors to advance work. May supervise the work of others.
Continued employment in this position is contingent upon availability of funding and satisfactory performance.
• Provide technical and analytical support using TransCAD travel models. 30%

Position Requirements
This position requires a Masters degree in Planning, Geography, Engineering, Statistics, Economics, Business, Political Science or a related field. BS or BA with 3 years practical experience may be substituted for Masters Degree. Requires 1 year of professional related experience in transportation modeling and forecasting. Must have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
• Manage tasks independently
• Technical skills using TransCAD or similar travel forecasting software and techniques
• Good writing and communication skills
• Ability to work cooperatively with others on team assignment
• Ability to manage multiple work assignments
• Ability to synthesize literature and information resources
• Ability to prepare professional quality tables, charts, graphics, and representation of data for reports and presentations
Prefer a Masters degree with emphasis in transportation modeling and forecasting.
Preferred Experience and Qualifications:
• Professional work experience in transportation research, planning, GIS and/or transportation modeling
• Experience working in/with a state department of transportation, metropolitan planning organization, council of governments, or similar public agency at the national, state, or local level
• Experience with TransCAD software programming with GISDK, other GIS programming, and/or other programming languages
• Knowledge of statistical analysis
• Have a working knowledge of travel demand model inputs, calibration, and validation
• Have working knowledge of traffic engineering, transportation planning, land use/demographic analysis
• Skills in preparation of training course materials and conducting professional workshops
• Proficiency using spreadsheet and databases
