Travel Demand Modeler – Bethesda, MD

We are seeking a Travel Demand Modeler to work in our Travel Demand Forecasting (TDF) group in our Bethesda, Maryland (Metropolitan Washington, D.C.) office. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a growing team of transportation professionals to provide support on travel demand forecasting models application and development (four-step and activity-based models), quantitative analysis, statistical analysis, geographic information system (GIS) projects, and network development.

Qualifications: Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering, Planning, or other related field. Knowledge of travel demand modeling, transportation planning applications, statistical analysis, GIS, and model estimation techniques. Experience working with one or more of the major travel demand forecasting planning packages (e.g., TransCAD/GISDK, Cube/TP+/Voyager, or EMME/2/3), statistical packages (e.g., SAS or SPSS), and GIS (e.g., ArcGIS or TransCAD). Experience with Microsoft Access, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Programming experience in GISDK, Cube/TP+, or other model scripting languages or other programming languages (e.g., C, C++, Fortran, Visual Basic, Java, PHP, Perl, Python, etc.). Strong oral and written communications skills.

Travel Demand Modeler – Chicago, IL

We are seeking a Travel Demand Modeler to work in our modeling group in our Chicago office. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a dynamic team in a collegial environment to support statistical modeling, traditional and advanced model development and application, quantitative data analysis, and geographic information system (GIS) projects. Responsibilities include developing model input data, estimating parameters, analyzing travel surveys and socioeconomic data, network coding/editing, validating travel demand models, conducting research on quantitative methods and modeling techniques, and preparing technical documentation.

Qualifications: Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering, Planning, or other related field. Strong analytical skills reflecting expertise in statistical analysis, model estimation techniques, and transportation planning applications. Experience working with statistical packages (e.g., SAS, SPSS, ALOGIT, Limdep, or R); working knowledge of one or more travel demand modeling platforms (e.g., TransCAD, Cube, or EMME); experience with Microsoft Access, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; and strong oral and written communications skills. Knowledge of GIS (e.g., ArcGIS or TransCAD); programming experience in GISDK or Cube/TP+ or experience in other programming languages (e.g., Python, SQL, Visual Basic, Java, C++, Fortran) a plus.
