Transportation Research Board (TRB)
94th Annual Meeting
Washington, DC, January 11-15, 2015
Emerging Professionals & Emerging Technologies: Investing in our Future
Type: Long Abstract Submission (1,000 words or less) and Podium Session Presentation
The TRB Young Members Council (A0040T) and the Design and Construction Group Young Members Subcommittee (AF000(4)) welcome submissions of abstracts by young members (35 years or younger) for consideration of presentation at the 94th Annual Meeting of the Transportation Research Board (TRB). The intent of this session is to get exposure for transportation research, projects, and case studies by young members, and to give young members the experience of presenting at TRB in a podium or poster session.
This session is a continuation of the of the Emerging Professionals podium sessions that have been successful at the previous two annual meetings. The theme for this year’s session will be: developing and innovative technologies by young members across all transportation modes. This session builds upon TRB’s commitment to Emerging Professionals and focuses on the young members who are most likely to be involved in using innovative technology to provide transportation solutions. The main objectives will be two-fold: (1) to create an avenue for TRB Young Members to gain experience in a submission and presentation process, and (2) to present the latest and most innovative uses of developing technology in the transportation industry.
The long abstract submissions and presentations will reflect ongoing research, case studies, or other suitable topics being conducted by practicing young members and graduate students (both Master and Doctorate) across all transportation modes and TRB Groups. The abstracts may reflect work that is not fully complete or in a format ready for a traditional TRB paper peer review.
Papers will not be required for submission; therefore, papers will not be peer-reviewed according to TRB procedures, nor will they appear on the TRB Annual Meeting Compendium of papers. Abstracts will be reviewed by members of the Young Members Council and Group-level Young Member Councils/Subcommittees. Authors whose abstracts are selected for presentation will be asked to present either a PowerPoint or poster presentation of their research during the TRB Annual Meeting. Abstracts should be submitted directly to Jason Gregorie, YMC Member, via email (jgregorie@appliedbuildingsciences.com). “TRB, Emerging Professionals” should appear in the email subject line. Please include read receipt with the email transmission. The deadline for submissions is September 7, 2014.
The abstracts will be limited to a maximum of 1,000 words. Abstracts should also generally follow the formatting requirements found on TRB’s website: http://onlinepubs.trb.org/onlinepubs/AM/InfoForAuthors.pdf. The author’s name, affiliation, and contact information (including mailing address and email address) must appear in the same document as the abstract. The submitting author must be a young member (age 35 or younger). The abstract must be submitted in Microsoft Word or Adobe Acrobat format.
Abstracts to be considered for the 2015 Annual Meeting must be submitted electronically no later than September 7, 2014. Abstracts submitted after this date cannot be considered due to the time required to facilitate the podium session speaker selection process. Authors of the selected abstracts will be contacted in October 2014 concerning possible presentation at the 2015 TRB Annual Meeting.
We look forward to receiving abstracts for this session!
