This is a reminder for those who are interested in getting involved in determining the future of Young Professionals in Transportation. We are currently collecting nominations for the 2014-2015 YPT International Board of Directors and there is just one week left to submit a nomination!
NOMINATION PROCESS
If you are interesting in running for one of the nine Board of Director positions (described below), then please submit your nomination by e-mail to YPT at elections@yptransportation.org by Wednesday, September 17, 2014, 6:00 PM Eastern Time. Please include your name, title, organization, contact information, the position(s) for which you are seeking nomination, and a candidate statement (1 page or less) addressing why you would like to serve on the YPT International Board of Directors. Please submit all of this information in a single MS Word file.
CANDIDATE AND VOTING ELIGIBILITY
In order to run for a YPT-International Board of Directors position or vote in the elections you must be or become a paid YPT Member by Wednesday, September 24, 2014 11:59 PM EST by following this link: https://my.yptransportation.org/join. If you think you are already a Member but are unsure, you can check your membership status by logging into https://my.yptransportation.org.
ELECTIONS PROCESS
- September 24, 2014: All eligible voters will receive the full slate of candidate statements via email (there will also be a National board ballot sent that day).
- October 13, 2014: All eligible voters will receive an email with voting instructions. Online voting for National and Chapter elections opens at 10:00 AM EST.
- October 24, 2014: Online voting for National and Chapter elections closes at 6PM local time.
LEADERSHIP POSITIONS
Elections will be held for the following YPT International Board of Directors positions. Terms of office are one year, from November 1 to October 31. There is no limit to the number of consecutive terms a Board Member may serve. Candidates may run for multiple positions. If a candidate wins more than one position then that person may choose which position he/she would prefer to serve in.
Chair: The Chair serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the organization. The Chair is responsible for day-to-day implementation of the policy and guidelines of the Board of Directors. The Chair presides over Board meetings, creates and appoints members to Committees, and acts as the chief official representative of the organization.
Deputy Chair: The Deputy Chair helps to coordinate activities involving multiple Officers and assists the Chair in his or her responsibilities. In the absence of the Chair, the Deputy Chair acts in the official capacity of the Chair and performs all duties of that office.
Secretary / Vice Chair for Administration: The Secretary / Vice Chair for Administration keeps minutes of the meetings of the Board of Directors and sees to the general operations of the organization. The Secretary / Vice Chair for Administration prepares election documents, including the roster of current members to be made available during all Board meetings, and manages the election process.
Vice Chair for Communications: The Vice Chair for Communications is responsible for activities and communications that promote the organization to the general public, and coordinates activities that facilitate and encourage communication and fellowship among the members, including the newsletter.
Treasurer / Vice Chair for Finance: The Treasurer / Vice Chair for Finance is responsible for the collection of dues, and the safekeeping of funds, including the reporting of receipts, expenditures, and balances at the request of the Board.
Vice Chair for Programs: The Vice Chair for Programs is responsible for coordinating speakers, dates, and locations for professional development programs and workshops. The Vice Chair for Programs is responsible for organizing networking events in coordination with the Vice Chair for Membership.
Vice Chair for Membership: The Vice Chair for Membership aims to provide maximum value for all members, increase the membership of YPT, increase the visibility of the organization, explore business development opportunities, and provide other services to meet the needs of the members.
Vice Chair for Chapter Development: The Vice Chair for Chapter Development coordinates with leaders of YPT chapters regarding YPT’s policies, activities, and other issues that could affect the chapters. The Vice Chair reaches out to the members to establish, assist in the development, and negotiate chapter affiliation agreements with new chapters.
Vice Chair for Sponsorships: The Vice Chair for Sponsorships works in coordination with the Chair and Deputy Chair to identify, establish, and grow relationships with sponsors. The Vice Chair tracks and maintains accurate and up-to-date sponsorship agreements and ensures that sponsorship benefits are being fulfilled.
