The Route Forecast Models Manager directs the development of Amtrak route forecasting models and other analytical tools used for the assessment and pricing of route and service change proposals. This position requires the ability to apply knowledge of transportation operating practices, financial systems, cost drivers, allocation methodologies, and cost reporting formulas necessary to develop Amtrak-specific forecasting tools and communicate findings in both incremental and fully allocated terms.
Major activities include developing forecasting and analytical tools and techniques to communicate complex planning and financial information to various audiences. The position works to enhance in-house technical and modeling capabilities over time. The position also serves as financial lead for state supported routes, preparing annual forecasts and service change evaluations where needed by the Service Planning & Costing Department.
To qualify, you must have a Bachelor’s degree in Transportation/Urban/Regional Planning, Operations Research, Economics, Business/Public Administration or related field and five to seven years’ of related work experience or an equivalent combination. Prefer: Master’s degree in Transportation/Urban/Regional Planning, Operations Research, Economics, Business/Public Administration, or related field or other related advanced degree.
