NYC JOB ALERT: Sustainability and Recovery & Resiliency Positions with the Mayor’s Office

PlaNYC is a groundbreaking effort to address New York City’s long-term challenges including the forecast of 9.1 million residents by 2030, changing climate conditions, an evolving economy, and aging infrastructure. Over 25 City agencies and many outside partners in academic, business, civic, and community roles convened to outline specific goals (like 30 percent carbon reduction by 2030), initiatives, and milestones that address these challenges and ensure quality of life for New Yorkers in the years to come. The Mayor’s Office of Long-Term Planning and Sustainability (OLTPS) oversees the development of PlaNYC and now shares responsibility with the Mayor’s Office of Recovery and Resiliency (ORR) for ensuring its implementation. These offices will develop plan updates every four years and provide annual progress reports. This ensures perspective and accountability that extends beyond any one mayoral administration and allows for new ideas and circumstances to shape the plan.

Job Openings:

Join OLTPS as the Senior Policy Advisor, providing analytical and research support to OLTPS leadership, while assisting in the development of policy and projects. Responsibilities include designing and executing research programs on energy policy and markets; evaluating efficacy of existing City and State policies and providing feedback to relevant parties; analyzing costs and benefits of proposed policies; developing and implementing policies to address negative impacts; convening stakeholders for information and feedback.

Join ORR as a Senior Policy Advisor in one of three areas: budget, coastal resiliency, and energy. The Senior Policy Advisor will provide analytical and research support to ORR leadership, while assisting in the development of policy and projects. Responsibilities include managing relationships with City agencies and coordinating interagency actions; ensuring a consistent public message; overseeing project execution; providing guidance on all documents that come into and leave the office to ensure a high quality of responsiveness and performance; and ensuring the execution of key milestones and initiatives that further resiliency policy goals.
