New York City Event: “Transportation Research in NYC” with Dr. Candace Brakewood – April 28

This Tuesday, April 28, YPT-NYC will be hosting Dr. Candace Brakewood for a discussion of the field of transportation research in New York City.

What are the hot topics and research priorities in public transportation in New York City today? How can researchers, practitioners, and policy-makers interact to facilitate innovation in transportation?  Dr. Candace Brakewood from the City College of New York will discuss these questions in an informal Q&A session. She will also give insights into what life is like as a transportation professor, provide tips on succeeding in graduate school and getting involved in transportation research, and discuss some of her recent and on-going research in the area of public transit.

Dr. Candace Brakewood is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the City College of New York.  Her interests include public transportation, transportation planning, and intelligent transportation systems. She has a PhD in Civil Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology, dual Master of Science degrees in Transportation and Technology Policy from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University. Prior to working in the transportation field, Candace was a Patent Examiner at the United States Patent and Trademark Office in Alexandria, Virginia.
