Vancouver Job Alert: Junior Traffic Engineer

Junior Traffic Engineer
Lyon Consulting

This position is located in Vancouver, BC, Canada.

Description

Lyon Consulting has been retained in the search for a Junior Traffic Engineer based in Vancouver, BC, Canada.

This is an exciting opportunity with a young company that has grown to 18 employees in only a few short years, delivering a mix of construction management and engineering design work on large-scale civil projects in urban environments.
The office is dynamic, fast-paced, and even a bit noisy at times. Office doors are open and the company has a flat organizational structure. You’ll be trusted with decisions – right down to company policy and strategy. This role would appeal to self-starters that like to get out of the office and work face-to-face with clients. That’s a key distinction as well; client communication isn’t limited to BD managers or senior engineers, you’d be the one working directly with clients across multiple municipalities.

That said – the role isn’t suitable for those reliant on structure and administrative support. You will be booking your own appointments and dealing with customers directly. The successful applicant will be adaptable and willing to literally get their hands dirty (it’s civil engineering, after all).

There’s 18 months of work in the project funnel and a clear view to bringing more in. You will be the one arranging road closure permits, designing detours (medians, o/h signage, lines, etc.), managing the engineering consultant and ensuring that the contractor delivers on the project scope.

The ideal candidate will have experience with traffic engineering and detour design/implementation experience. Communication skills will be paramount, as the role is client-facing. A civil engineering degree recognized by APEGBC and three years of experience is required as a minimum – the selected candidate will be expected to already be a PEng or eligible for PEng status within a year.
