New York Job Alert: Project Manager, Department of Planning & Development

Project Manager, Department of Planning & Development
LIC Partnership (LICP)

This position is located in Long Island City, NY.

LIC Partnership (LICP) is the local development corporation for Long Island City (LIC). Our mission is to advocate for economic development that benefits the area’s industrial, commercial, tech, cultural, tourism, and residential sectors. The goal is to attract new businesses to LIC, retain those already here, welcome new residents and visitors, and promote a vibrant and authentic mixed-use community. Among other efforts, we operate the Long Island City Business Improvement District (LICBID) and LIC Industrial Business Zone (LICIBZ), providing business services and assistance. For more information on the organization and LIC, see licqns.com.

LIC is experiencing a period of explosive development and transformation, and LICP is providing even more services to meet the demands of LIC’s changing community. To better understand the community and meet its growing needs, LICP recently completed Phase 1 of a groundbreaking LIC Comprehensive Plan effort. The Phase 1 Summary Report and supporting work can all be found online at http://www.longislandcityqueens.com/licplan/. A key finding was that the streetscape and wayfinding assets in LIC need to be greatly enhanced to improve circulation, provide a safe and inviting atmosphere, connect the various sectors in our mixed-use community, bridge economic divides, and leverage and support our cultural resources.

One of the significant parts of LIC requiring attention to its physical conditions is the area on the East Side of the Sunnyside Rail Yards within the Industrial Business Zone, and adjancent parcels and crossings (“Target Area”). We are seeking to hire a Project Manager (PM) as part of our Planning and Development Department with the LICP, whose primary responsibilities will be to address transportation, planning, and design issues associated with the Target Area. This PM will report to the Director of Planning and Development, who in turn reports to the President.

This is a unique opportunity to thrive in a small, fast-paced organization across a wide range of projects and in a community-driven role in a rapidly growing neighborhood.

Interested candidates may send their resume, cover letter, three (3) references, and relevant work samples to the Director of Planning & Development, Jeannette Rausch President of the LICP, at jrausch@licpartnership.org with the subject line “Project Manager Position”.

LIC Partnership is an Equal Opportunity Employer and is committed to workplace diversity.
