Position Overview

The Northeast States for Coordinated Air Use Management (NESCAUM) seeks a seasoned professional to lead an effort to promote clean transportation programs on behalf of states that have adopted California’s Clean Car program. This is a one-year contract position with potential for continued employment. NESCAUM is a nonprofit association of the state environmental agencies in the six New England states, New Jersey and New York. We provide technical and policy assistance to our members on air pollution, climate, and energy issues of regional concern. NESCAUM facilitates the Multi-State Zero-Emission Vehicle (ZEV) Task Force that is helping states accelerate the ZEV market in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and West Coast regions.

We are looking for a highly motivated self-starter with a strong background in clean transportation and experience navigating the political environment in Washington D.C. To help enhance state capacity to protect and promote clean transportation programs, the selected candidate will: (1) track regulatory, executive and legislative activities related to clean transportation and climate change; (2) develop and disseminate information to the states; and (3) help coordinate effective state engagement to further or defend their interests. Candidates must have significant knowledge of the workings of federal regulatory agencies and Congress, and understand the subtleties and constraints of working on behalf of state government. The selected candidate will coordinate closely with others at NESCAUM to provide the needed contacts within the Clean Car states and ensure broad and effective responses to efforts affecting federal and state clean transportation and climate programs.
