Position Overview

This position is located in the District Department of Transportation (DDOT), Planning Sustainability Division (PSD) Project Review Branch. PSD monitors, plans, and evaluates transportation impacts on District residents, visitors and workers. The incumbent provides leadership in the review and consolidation of Department comments on private and public development projects, and on public space permits applications. In addition, the incumbent leads major District-wide transportation planning and research projects providing management and oversight of staff and contractors. Special emphasis is placed on developing and implementing a multi-modal comprehensive approach that combines the needs of public and private sectors into coordinated neighborhood transportation policies and plans, consistent with agency strategic goals and objectives.

Major Duties

  • Analyzes the operational effectiveness of city-wide transportation systems regarding capacity, design, level-of-service, and safety. Reviews and mitigates the transportation impacts of developments projects. Develops alternatives for assuring the safe and efficient utilization of the public transportation system within the District. Prepares technical position papers, reports, and policies on issues intended to increase the operational efficiency and safety of the District’s transportation system.
  • Serves as the Division representative on reviews of public space permits and the Public Space Committee. Reviews and analysis applications for public space permits for compliance with DDOT standards, Reviews, analyses and provides technical comments on streetscape design plans submitted by private developers and DDOT for conformance with DC safety standards….
