Manager of Location Data Acquisition & Sourcing

Reporting to our VP of Product, StreetLight Data is seeking candidates to manage strategic data acquisition and supplier relationship development, including sourcing, evaluation, and management of our supply-sider data partners.
 
Candidates located in the San Francisco, CA area that can eventually work from our SF office are preferred but we are open to candidates in the Pacific time zone, including the Vancouver, BC area where we have an office as well.
 

Key Responsibilities:

    • Work alongside other members of the Product Team to gather requirements for data sources to build current and future products through interactions with internal stakeholders in engineering, data science, and the executive team
    • Propose creative solutions to meet product needs with available sources of data
    • Research, identify, and propose new supplier partnerships that have a strategic fit with the company. This may include new categories of sources and alternative partnership models including reselling and co-branded partnerships
    • Research and maintain a knowledge base about the data supply landscape, and build a data supply pipeline for future consideration
    • Procure data for evaluation in accordance with company data supplier guidelines, contracting and privacy practices, and manage, and facilitate the data evaluation process with the engineering team
    • Lead strategic negotiations for the acquisition of new data sources including developing recommended business terms and pricing for review by executives 
    • Develop and maintain relationships with existing data suppliers through regular check ins including monthly data supplier check in meetings with each key supplier
    • Proactively communicate anticipated upcoming data supply issues to the StreetLight Team and recommend solutions
    • Manage related data supply and quality issues as needed such as managing direct and 3rd party consultants, direct outreach for data supply from government agencies, coordinating investigations into issues in supplier data feeds, etc.
    • Conduct quarterly internal Data Supplier Review Meetings to provide a scan of existing and proposed data supplier relationships
    • Procure information necessary for the Privacy Team to perform Supplier Assessments and  Privacy Impact Assessments for potential new data supply sources
    • Keep track of contract renewal dates and similar partner needs

Skills & Qualifications:

    • BS/BA preferably in a discipline that requires knowledge of statistics, geospatial information or related technical capabilities
    • 3-5 years experience in a business development position preferably with a focus on data sourcing, research, and data acquisition
    • 2+ years managing partnerships or /business development role in a company in a technical field such as software or engineering
    • Excellent organizational, project management and communication skills; ability to deliver excellent results on deadline
    • Strong interpersonal skills; enjoys the process of engaging, nurturing and developing internal and external relationships that deliver business value
    • Geospatial skills are a plus
    • Knowledge of transportation and location data is a strong plus.

Product Manager, Platform

StreetLight Data is seeking a Product Manager to work with our web applications team to continue expanding our platform capabilities and commercialization to solve complex transportation use cases  in StreetLight’s best-in-class transportation data platform. As part of our team, you will help shape the future of mobility and smart cities by ensuring successful delivery of the most innovative, accurate and comprehensive big data offerings in transportation.   
 
Reporting to our VP of Product, you will collaborate with our other product managers, product development, marketing and sales to research, define, plan, build, release and drive successful sales and adoption of specific features in Streetlight Insight® , our end-user application.
 
Candidates located in the San Francisco, CA area that can eventually work from our SF office are preferred but we are open to candidates in the Pacific time zone, including the Vancouver, BC area where we have an office as well.
 

Key Responsibilities:

    • Develop product requirements, manage backlog and produce release plans, schedules, and near and long-term roadmaps for the development of new metrics and improvement of existing metrics in collaboration with Engineering and the rest of the Product team 
    • Communicate effectively across the organization to provide the appropriate level of transparency on upcoming Product plans, releases, & roadmaps to Executives, Sales, Customer Success, Support and others with a need to know
    • Develop and maintain an intimate understanding of our Insight platform and end-user products including underlying data, validation processes, transportation metrics, calibration techniques and visualizations and their applications in customer use cases    
    • Focus on commercialization of new features and metrics for the transportation industry and their integration into our platform
    • Understand the StreetLight organization, business objectives and growth plans, product constituencies, and product management needs
    • Develop product requirements that meet end customer needs by leveraging a deep understanding of the transportation planning and operations industry and through collaboration with our sales team, prospects, & customers
    • Proactively gather and synthesize information from internal and external sources about market trends, competitive offerings, prospect and customer unmet needs and requirements as inputs to product planning  
    • Collaborate closely with our teams to ensure any new product education or training, marketing materials or promotions, or prospect and/or customer communications can be completed and distributed to internal and external users in a timely, effective and efficient manner

Skills & Qualifications:

    • 3+ years of product management experience in commercial software companies focused on big data, mobility, or navigation products and/or services that utilize machine learning in a quantitative field; experience in a SaaS product environment a strong plus 
    • Experience using StreetLight Data Insight platform is a strong plus
    • BS or equivalent in Engineering or Computer Science, or in Civil Engineering  with a concentration in Transportation Planning or equivalent
    • Proven track record of effectively gathering and transforming complex market data and customer into insights to produce prioritized product roadmaps 
    • Demonstrated experience collaboratively working in a product development environment with data scientists, data / software engineers, QA and support to define and deliver products, manage release schedules and support Marketing and Sales in go-to-market education, training and launch processes
    • Experience in Agile Development methodologies a strong plus
    • Naturally a model-based thinker with good business and technical judgment, numerically facile with ability to create new frameworks for data /information analysis, balance competing priorities and interests, and evaluate and transparently communicate the trade-offs between execution options  
    • Superior verbal, written and visual communication skills that enable you to clearly explain complex concepts to internal or external audiences through formal and informal, verbal and written presentations and reports
    • Experience using a wide-range of tools and technologies such as JIRA, Confluence, Microsoft Office applications, project management tools; GIS systems a strong plus

Strategic Partnerships Manager

StreetLight Data has launched several successful partnerships with other innovative software and transportation firms – ranging from large companies like HERE, Ford, and CBRE to exciting new tools like Immense’s modern simulation tool and Volta’s new tool to EV site selection. Many more are in the pipeline. We are looking for a hands-on partnership manager for this important initiative, with a combination of experience in project management and Big Data, business savvy, and a partner success mindset. The successful candidate will be a detail oriented Partnerships Manager that can simultaneously orchestrate multiple projects effectively, understands the power of Big Data, delights our partners with strong client-facing skills and possesses the business judgment needed to expand StreetLight’s business.   
 
This position is a fantastic match for a polymath. It requires a deep love of keeping track of details, the strategic and technical mindset to understand our own and partner data products and use cases, as well as the charisma to keep our partners excited and up to speed on our offerings.
 
Location: We would be happy if the candidate were located in the areas of our three offices (San Francisco, CA; Richmond, VA; or Vancouver BC) but great candidates in other geographies willing to travel (once that is an acceptable business practice again) will be considered equally.
 

Key Responsibilities:

    • As our executive/sales team brings a potential partner into the fold, help close the deal by:
    • Understanding and helping articulate and document the “co-value proposition” of the combined partner/StreetLight product
    • Coordinating delivery of pilot or sample data (collaborating with our services and product team (bonus if you are technical enough to run deliveries yourself, use an API, etc.)
    • After the partnership is closed, take over day-to-day management of the partnership:
    • Help partner and StreetLight team design and execute go-to-market strategies for the partnership
    • Run regular check-ins with each partner. Coordinate with our product marketing team to make sure collateral is created that resonates our sales team and/or partner sales team
    • Coordinate data deliveries to partner, collaborating with our services and product team 
    • Answer questions that arise from partners, and coordinate responses from our support teams when needed
    • Rigorously document lessons learned, feedback
    • Make the trains run on time for partnerships with detailed task documentation and management
    • Travel from time to time to meet with partners, customers, attend trade shows or visit other StreetLight Data offices as needed
    • Understand the StreetLight organization, business objectives and growth plans, product constituencies, and partnership management needs

Skills & Qualifications:

      • 5+ years experience in roles relevant to this one – this can include sales, sales engineering, marketing, or partner management
      • A bachelors or advanced degree in environmental studies, data science, transportation engineering, urban planning, business or other relevant fields
      • Understanding of project management and detail-oriented – a well-done implementation of organizational tools should give you joy
      • Excellent teamwork and communication skills – this role will require pulling together work from teams across StreetLight and partners and keep smart, opinionated people moving along a common path
      • Track record managing revenue-related projects from start to finish, including identifying and delivering the requirements for customer success and troubleshooting issues along the way to create long-term, profitable business relationships 
      • Strong presentation skills – both designing presentations and delivering them – for audiences from technical individual contributors to senior management
      • Knowledge about transportation (planning, environmental impact, social justice) and/or geospatial analytics
      • Excitement about taking on a new challenge – this role is the first of its kind at StreetLight and you will need to be proactive about designing your own best practices and educating your colleagues to ensure your success
      • Ability to process data in SQL (or similar) or/or use or explain basic APIs is a plus
