Responsibilities | |
The incumbent will assist in the planning, development, implementation, execution and oversight of NYCT System Expansion & Integrated Projects including, but not limited to, the design and construction of current and future Phases on the Second Avenue Subway on behalf of the Department of Subways. As a single point of contact for DOS on expansion projects the incumbent will manage Subways’ review and approval of design/construction documents, ensure all comments are incorporated into designs, track all design/ construction changes and additional work issues, oversee project estimates, budgets and schedules and ensure adherence to all NYCT standards. This includes facilitating the coordination between NYCT, MTA C&D and other internal and external agencies to resolve design as well as construction issues. Responsible to assist the Engineer – FRA/LIRR Testing & Inspection in ensuring all FRA/LIRR signal testing is performed in accordance with FRA/LIRR rules and regulations. This is a key position in the Signal Department responsible for ensuring employee and public safety. | |

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to: -Assist the Engineer – FRA/LIRR Testing and Inspection in planning, managing, coordinating & evaluating all FRA/LIRR required signal system testing. Maintain test documentation to ensure compliance with FRA Rules and regulations. -Develop computerized and written signal FRA/LIRR tests for new and existing signal systems. Support testing activities and cutover of new signal systems. -Develop testing procedures to ensure proper testing in accordance with FRA/LIRR (Federal Railroad Administration/Long Island Rail Road) rules and regulations on all signal systems, including new technologies. Develop testing manuals for distribution to field personnel. Conduct trial field tests and R&D to develop new or improved test procedures. -Assist the Engineer – FRA/LIRR Testing and Inspection in advising on all FRA/LIRR (Federal Railroad Administration/Long Island Rail Road) signal test requirements and interfacing with other departments (safety, public relations, Transportation) and outside agencies (FRA/DOT [Federal Railroad Administration/Department of Transportation], NTSB [National Transportation Safety Board], PTSB [Public Transportation Safety Board]), regarding signal system safety matters. -Assist the Engineer – FRA/LIRR Testing and Inspection in directing Signal investigative teams responding to reported grade crossing failures, signal system failures and derailments. This position is responsible for providing essential arts administration and project management tasks associated with the department’s growing portfolio of new and planned projects, programs and initiatives. Specifically, this position will work with the managers in all aspects of the departmental permanent and temporary art projects, programs, initiatives and activities. The Assistant Manager will perform core functions on the management of the permanent art program including but not limited to: preparation, curatorial research, communication, organization and documentation of the artist selection process; reviewing fabrication plans and details; coordinating and monitoring delivery and installation details; organizing and increasing public outreach to assure diverse selection pools; monitoring payments and the project closeout. The Assistant Manager will evaluate and develop design decision for graphic projects, promotional materials and presentations for internal and external use. The Assistant Manager will support the A&D leadership on special projects with a short turn-around time, providing project management coordination, communication and graphic support if necessary. This position will fulfill a core function with new and existing programming initiatives such as the MTA system-wide Digital Art initiative and the new A&D Website initiative; formulating high quality social media content and material; processing operating and capital budget requests and invoices, contract preparation, procurement requirements, collection maintenance, weekly and quarterly reporting; developing and maintaining A&D press and mailing lists. The Assistant Manager will implement department initiatives to commission permanent public artwork for a growing collection of over 350 permanent artwork assets throughout the MTA network spanning 5,000 square miles.
