As a Power Electronics Engineer at Level 5, you will work on various PCBA designs for power, compute, and controls. You will work cross-functionally to gather requirements, come up with architectural design and get buy-in from core technical team members. You will translate design architecture into implementation through component selection, schematic capture, layout, functional review, fab, bringup, test, all the way to mid-volume production.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the developments of power electronics control units, HV/LV DC/DC, or LV power distribution boards
  • Propose creative and reliable power electronic solutions that will help the L5 Power team to meet internal technical requirements
  • Be on top of the latest implementation method in LV power redundancy
  • Lead the integration effort of power ECU integration with the base vehicle prototype
  • Working cross-functionally to manage and troubleshoot technical challenges including thermal, FW, and mechanical

Experience:

  • Over 5+ years of hands-on experience required in the design and development of power electronics including automotive power electronics (e.g. DC/DC, ECU, BMS and other power solutions for automotive applications)
  • Deep understanding in tradeoffs in component and design parameter selections for switch-mode power converter design
  • Solid fundamentals in board-level and system-level grounding schemes
  • Application experience with power switches including, MOSFET, GaN etc
  • Embedded control hardware application (uP or DSP), including power supply, interfacing and protection circuits

As a cloud infrastructure engineer, you will be responsible for building and operating the foundational pieces and frameworks of our cloud footprint. You will focus on tools and frameworks for deployments, provisioning, scheduling, observability, security, and routing across our large scale computing environment.

We are made up of systems and software engineers who provide foundational cloud and deployment platforms including Kubernetes, AWS, Spinnaker, Vault, and Envoy. We manage our multi-region AWS footprint and build the tools and services that Level 5 relies on every day to build the autonomous future.

Every day we compile millions of lines of code, drive thousands of miles in simulation, process hundreds of terabytes of data, and scale up or down thousands of compute instances. Responsibilities:

  • Create resilient and scalable infrastructure that enables rapid iteration across all of Level 5
  • Manage and expand our multi-region, interconnected Kubernetes cloud infrastructure through Infrastructure as Code (we use Terraform)
  • Build and maintain Kubernetes operators and controllers to provide friendly abstractions and capabilities for our client teams to use
  • Expand and manage Spinnaker deployments across a mix of Kubernetes, EC2 and on-prem delivery targets
  • Identify infrastructure performance bottlenecks and determine the best solution to continue to scale our compute clusters to continually process more jobs and more data at a faster pace
