StreetLight Data is seeking a strong Data Engineer to be part of our growing Engineering team. This team member will work on processing data at scale, and productizing new analytics into the StreetLight InSight platform. This position reports to the Manager of Data Science.
 

Key Responsibilities:

    • Design and implement components within the StreetLight InSight data processing pipeline (from raw input files to optimized tables used for analyses)
    • Tune the StreetLight InSight processing pipeline for performance and scalability, and automate it to allow for hands-off operations
    • Develop new analytics algorithms, using a deep understanding of the raw data
    • Implement customized analytics for clients in collaboration with Sales
    • Work with Product Management and Application teams to productize data analytics algorithms into the StreetLight InSight web application
    • Contribute to data science projects as appropriate.

Skills & Qualifications:

    • BS / MS in Computer Science, Mathematics, or an Engineering discipline from a top university
    • 5+ years experience as a software or data engineer at an enterprise software/analytics company
    • 5+ years experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred) and SQL, including strong understanding of concepts

Data Scientist

StreetLight Data is seeking a creative, versatile, and motivated Senior Data Scientist to be part of our growing team. This team member will lead data science projects to develop exciting new algorithms for our product, as well as help productize those algorithms into our scalable StreetLight InSight® analytics platform.  This position reports to the Data Science Manager.
 
Position may be located in San Francisco, CA or Vancouver, BC.
 

Key Responsibilities

    • Design algorithms to infer key transportation patterns from various data sources
    • Research and implement suitable strategies (e.g. regression models, neural networks, etc.) for solving data science problems
    • Find and build real-world data sets for training various models and doing quality checks

Skills & Requirements

    • BS/MS in Mathematics, Computer Science or an Engineering discipline from a top university. Alternatively, a PhD focused on quantitative research and discovering insights from data is acceptable in lieu of a BS/MS plus experience.
    • 3 – 5 years of experience in data science and/or statistics, using tools such as R or Python
    • 2+ years of experience in SQL and relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred), and good understanding of relational concepts
    • Strong understanding of techniques in data science (machine learning algorithms, regression analysis, etc.)

Senior Software Engineer

StreetLight Data is seeking a high caliber Sr. Software Engineer to be part of our growing team. This team member will work on both the frontend and backend of the StreetLight InSight SaaS web application that our subscription customers use to explore and visualize travel patterns in the real world. This position reports to the Senior Director of Engineering.
 

Key Responsibilities:

    • Design, implement, and maintain customer-facing features, including both frontend and backend components, in the StreetLight InSight SaaS web application and analytics serving pipeline
    • Interface among our San Francisco, Vancouver, and Eastern European teams, and mentor more junior engineers
    • Deliver product releases to production each month
    • Write automated unit tests and participate in peer design and code reviews
    • Collaborate daily with the other developers and QA engineers on the team, as well as with Product Management
    • Productize analytics handoffs from the Data Science and Data Engineering team
    • Tune StreetLight InSight for performance, scalability, and reliable operation to serve our growing customer base
    • Assist Support and Operations in resolving production issues when needed, and improve the product to avoid them in the future

StreetLight Data is seeking a Product Support Engineer to help our clients solve transportation problems using StreetLight InSight®, our SaaS on-demand platform. This team member will work closely with planners, modelers, and engineers, helping them put Big Data to work for transportation. 
 
The Product Support Engineer will provide comprehensive support to our customers to enable them to use StreetLight InSight® to its maximum potential, understand our methodologies, and trust our Metrics to address their mobility questions, all to ensure their highest possible satisfaction. This position reports to the Director, Support.
 
This position can be based in our Richmond, VA office or remote within the Eastern or Central time zones within the US or Canada. We are currently asking all employees to work remotely during COVID for employee safety but plan to eventually return to working from offices post-COVID in some capacity. Therefore, we can be somewhat flexible on current geographic location.
 

Key Responsibilities:

    • Deliver a superior support experience to our customers with every interaction
    • Provide first-level and escalated technical support for users of the StreetLight InSight® platform
    • Support customers in a respectful, engaging, and empathetic manner through email, conference calls, and office hours sessions
    • Become an expert in StreetLight Metrics and their uses to all of StreetLight’s customers Conduct investigations into analyses, Metrics results, and the underlying data to determine root causes of issues raised by customers or internal staff
    • Manage a high volume of inbound requests in a timely and organized manner. Improve processes to handle support requests

Skills & Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in a technical discipline such as Transportation, Engineering, or Urban Planning; MS degree in a similar field is a plus
    • One or more years of experience in a customer-facing role required; Technical support of customers using a software application is a plus
    • Strong statistical knowledge and analytic skills required including one or more years of experience with Excel and comfort working with data and identifying patterns
    • Quick learner with problem-solving abilities and a strong sense of empathy and understanding of user needs
    • Excellent written as well as verbal communication skills – this job requires writing technical guides to inform product users and regular communication with customers via email and phone
    • Be extremely organized and able to follow and design processes
    • Experience working in transportation engineering/consulting, transportation agencies, or urban planning is strongly preferred
    • Experience with geospatial tools (such as QGIS or ArcGIS) and statistics are a plus

StreetLight Data is seeking a Product Manager to work with our data science, and web applications teams in two areas: Data as a Service and Application Programming Interfaces (API). Reporting to the VP of Product, you will collaborate with our other product managers, engineering, marketing and sales to research, define, plan, build, release and drive successful sales and adoption of both new and existing data products and the APIs for Streetlight Insight®. 
 
This position requires strong product management experience in data products and APIs, along with expertise in analytics and statistical methods. A background in SaaS and/or transportation planning or related fields is a strong plus. Candidates can be remote, and we also have offices in San Francisco, Richmond, and Vancouver.

 

Key Responsibilities:

    • Understand the StreetLight organization, business objectives and growth plans, with a holistic view of transportation planning and operations industry.
    • Develop the customer requirements and market opportunities for StreetLight in general and then specifically for Data as a Service and API offerings. 
    • Be hands-on in documenting requirements including programming language support, APIs, visualizations, marketplaces in order to build the business cases for product roadmap and new product development. 
    • Collaborate effectively within the Product Team and across Web Application Engineering and Data teams to support product release planning, schedules, and near and long-term roadmaps.
    • Communicate and collaborate closely with Product Marketing, Learning Services, Marketing, Solution Engineers, Sales and our Executive Team to deliver product to market.

Skills & Qualifications

    • BS or equivalent in Computer Science or related engineering field required.
    • 2 or more years of professional experience as a software developer working with APIs is required; experience building APIs for internal or external use is a plus.
    • 3 or more years of product management experience in a SaaS  company focused on APIs and big data is required Some working knowledge of of programming languages like R, Python is useful.
    • Experience working with data analytics and visualization tools such as Tableau, Qlik or equivalent is strongly preferred. 
    • Proven ability to develop product specifications for APIs including descriptions of developer requirements driven by understanding of customer and partner applications.

The Engagement Associate will work with customers in the transportation industry to ensure that our products get implemented successfully. The Engagement Associate, working alongside Account Executives and other members of the Customer Success team, will have a portfolio of customers to move through the customer journey from onboarding through successful adoption of their StreetLight InSight®  subscription.
 
Previous experience working at a transportation engineering or planning firm is helpful to success in the role and is desired.
 
Location: Position is based remotely from a home office. In a normal (non pandemic) year, regular travel to customer sites (up to a few times per quarter) and occasional travel to San Francisco headquarters (quarterly or bi-annually) required.
 
Key Responsibilities: 
  • Work closely with a portfolio of Public Sector and AEC firm customers with the primary goal of helping them successfully use the StreetLight InSight® platform for their core project needs
  • Develop and execute onboarding plans for new customers assigned to your portfolio and coordinate with StreetLight Product Support and Training teams to ensure new users onboard as quickly as possible
  • Develop customer-specific plans to enable on-going learning opportunities related to the use of Big Data for transportation and additional ways to use the StreetLight InSight® analytical platform
  • Team with Account Executives and the rest of Customer Success team to ensure customers achieve a return on investment from their subscriptions
  • Serve as a voice of the customer in sharing product feedback and facilitate opportunities for customers to interact with StreetLight’s Product team.

  • Interface with other functional groups, project teams and internal stakeholders to effectively resolve issues and remove barriers toward the goal of jointly reaching StreetLight business objectives.
Skills and Qualifications: 
  • 5+ years experience in transportation planning or transportation engineering at a public sector agency or consulting firm.
  • Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree is a plus.
  • Proficiency with analytics software skills. Bonus for SaaS tools.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial “start-up” environment.
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work in a team selling environment.
