Data Visualization Analyst

Work Responsibilities
Each assignment we produce is unique; adaptability to changing work responsibilities on every task is a must for this job. You will typically juggle several projects concurrently with varied deadlines and priority levels. Work assignments will include developing layouts and graphics for public-facing documents, front-end web design, data visualization, and presentation design to support projects and proposals. On any given project, your responsibilities might include:
- • Working with large amounts of information to find creative ways to show “the big picture”
- • Cleaning and joining datasets
- • Developing data visualizations in Power BI, Tableau, ArcGIS or other digital platforms
- • Interacting with clients to understand their data visualization needs and create solutions
- • Programming lightweight applications with JavaScript, R Shiny, etc.
- • Looking at data trends and relationships and coming to new conclusions based on findings
High Street’s team and clients are located throughout the United States and this position may require occasional travel, but it will primarily be work from home.
Qualifications
- • Masters degree in a related field
- • One+ year of work experience
- • Ability to develop effective UI/UX for interactive data visualizations
- • Experience working with PowerBI and Tableau software platforms, as well as with developing visual applications using R or Python
- • Aptitude for virtual workplace setting, including ability to self-learn and problem solve, comfort with working both independently and as part of a team, and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- • Project management experience preferred
- • Interest in transportation is desired

A few examples of data–centric planning work produced recently by our team include: helping Texas DOT prioritize $35B in investment by transforming data from separate databases into cohesive predictions of project performance; helping Oklahoma DOT find over $50M in savings by identifying projects with low performance impacts due to over-scoping; and helping the Phoenix, AZ region’s MPO build a geospatial platform that prioritizes site location needs and scores projects based on bridge, pavement, crash, travel time reliability, travel demand, transit, land use and socio-economic data. Work Responsibilities

- • Spatially joining and processing a wide variety of transportation data;
- • Developing and documenting technical methodologies/assumptions;
- • Forecasting long-range transportation investment needs;
- • Evaluating performance impacts of transportation investments in terms of safety, mobility, preservation and other factors;
- • Conducting multiple objective decision analysis;
- • Communicating with technical client staff; and
- • Creating automated tools.
- • Supporting or leading project teams
- • Business development support
- • Preparing and making presentations
High Street’s team and clients are located throughout the United States and this position may require occasional travel, but it is a ‘work from home’ role.
Qualifications
- • 2 to 5 years of work experience in areas of transportation asset management or long-range transportation planning, and Master’s in transportation planning, public policy, civil engineering, or similar discipline.
- • Experience in use of statistical analysis packages, programming languages and software including GIS, R, Python and SQL.
- • Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software.
- • Creative problem solving, critical thinking, and troubleshooting skills and a demonstrated ability to write clearly in a manner that appeals to a wide audience.
- • Aptitude for work in a virtual setting including strong interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to self-learn and problem solve, prioritize workload, meet deadlines, and work both independently and as part of a team.
