Nick Perfili (2011-2012)

Nicholas (Nick) Perfili has worked in the transportation industry since beginning work as an intern with the Michigan Department of Transportation in 2002. He moved to the Washington, DC region and joined the Fairfax County Department of Transportation in 2007, serving in various positions, including Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project (Silver Line) project planner and Transit Services Division Section Chief for Fairfax Connector bus service. It was during Nick’s time at FCDOT that he was part of the founding YPT Board of Director. Currently, Nick works at the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, or Metro, as an assistant planning manager. At Metro, he coordinates a variety of efforts, including bus support readiness for Metrorail’s Silver Line, Phase 2 and Potomac Yard Station expansion projects. One of Mr. Perfili’s most noteworthy accomplishments is leading the effort to name Fairfax County’s Silver Line Metrorail stations and developing a comprehensive communication and public involvement program to seek community and stakeholder input on the Silver Line’s second phase. In addition, Nick was one of the founding publishers of Fairfax Connector’s social media feeds, providing Fairfax County with its first case study in operational usage of social media during a declared snow emergency.
