The National Board of Directors is based in Washington, DC and elected each November to provide guidance and leadership for the nationwide organization as a whole.

David Moyer // McMahon Associates

YPT Boston

David Moyer, PE is a transportation engineer for McMahon Associates in Boston Massachusetts. At McMahon he works on a variety of transportation projects including roadway design, development of traffic management strategies, and public transit projects. He has been involved with YPT since 2013 serving multiple roles for the local and international chapter.

David grew up in southern Maine and graduated from Northeastern University in 2011 with a degree in Civil Engineering. He studied abroad in the Netherlands where he learned to appreciate the countries bicycle infrastructure. He likes working with YPT to provide young transportation professionals with opportunities to connect and collaborate. David enjoys exploring cities and urban spaces, and is excited about the innovations happening within transportation technology, car sharing, and autonomous vehicles. He plans to take up snowboarding as his newest mode of transportation.

Responsibilities
Serve as the Chief Executive Officer of YPT International
Day-to-day implementation of the policy and guidelines of the Board of Directors
Preside over Board meetings and create/appoint members to Committees

 


Deputy

Jaime McKay // WSP

YPT Baltimore

Jaime McKay is a transportation planner with WSP and is embedded within the Maryland Transit Administration’s Office of Planning and Capital Programming. Jaime has assisted with the launch of BaltimoreLink, the largest bus network redesign in Baltimore in decades, and continues to support the Office of Planning through planning projects, outreach, and graphic design efforts. In 2016, Jaime and her team won the YPT Project of the Year Award for their work on GTFS expansion in Maryland. Jaime has also been recognized as an ACT 40 Under 40 Recipient.

Jaime received her Masters in Geography from the University at Albany, and was introduced to the wide world of geography as an undergraduate at Geneseo. Originally from Ballston Spa, NY, she’ll argue until the sun comes up about what qualifies as “upstate” New York, and she is an avid cyclist and hiker. Jaime loves trains and has a one-eyed cat named Linus, who you can meet on Twitter.

Responsibilities
Assist the Chair in administering the international board and with any miscellaneous needs
Set up monthly board meetings
Administer the subsequent year’s election process
Stand in for the Chair when necessary

Zachary Bugg // Kittelson

YPT Triangle

Dr. Zachary Bugg, PE has worked at Kittelson & Associates, Inc. since 2012 and currently resides in Wilmington, NC. A native of Memphis, he holds Bachelors of Science degrees in Civil Engineering and Mathematics from Mississippi State University, as well as a PhD in Civil Engineering from North Carolina State University.

Zachary has served on the YPT international board since 2014 and has been a participant in the Washington, DC, Portland, and Baltimore chapters since 2012. In addition to serving on the YPT International Board, he is an active member of the Institute of Transportation Engineers and is engaged in the Transportation Research Board.

Zachary’s experience includes project work in the areas of transit planning, microsimulation analysis, roundabout design and operations, highway safety, and complete streets planning. His main research interests are in transit preferential treatments and microsimulation, and he also has several publications in the areas of highway capacity and the operational effects of geometric design. Zachary is actively engaged in the development of young professionals and enjoys speaking at conferences and guest lectures, as well as mentoring interns and new staff.

Record minutes for all monthly board meetings
Oversee international awards and other major activities
Keep accurate records of the organization


Director of Finance

YPT Boston

Patrick Brady is young attorney living and working in southern Maine with his fiancé and rescue dog from Louisiana.

Patrick began his educational career at the University of Maine where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering. Patrick then attended the University of Maine School of Law after spending a year biking across the United States. Patrick now represents for-profit and non-profit entities in various business deals such as formations, mergers and acquisitions representing up to approximately $100 Million in transaction value. He practices primarily in Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts but continues to stay active in the national conversation regarding transportation infrastructure financing and funding. Patrick is always looking for creative ways to finance infrastructure and is excited to become involved in YPT to a greater degree.

Responsibilities
Collect individual dues payments and redistribute to chapters
Record and maintain accurate financial records
Pay organization bills in a timely fashion
Manage organization payment systems
Seek opportunities to best utilize existing financial resources and expand revenue streams
Develop annual budget and provide monthly updates to the international board


Director of Membership

Xavier Harmony // Amtrak

YPT Washington, DC
Xavier Harmony is a Lead Service Planner at Amtrak. He has worked in both the public and private sector with specialist experience in passenger rail, public transportation, and traffic engineering. His expertise covers transportation finance, transit planning, road safety, and traffic operations.
Xavier grew up in Brisbane, Australia, and moved to the US in 2012. He holds a Master of Science in Civil Engineering (Transportation) from Penn State and bachelor degrees in Civil Engineering and Business Management from Queensland University of Technology.
Responsibilities
Monitor YPT membership numbers
Grant administrative access to the Contact Relationship Management System (CivicCRM)
Setup new chapters in database
Remove duplicate membership from the membership database
Assist chapters in using CiviCRM

Gabriela Kappes // WSP

YPT NYC

Gabi Kappes is an urban planner for WSP in New York, NY. At WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff, Gabi is focused on sustainable, resilient, and transformative transportation projects including Bus Rapid Transit, Transit-Oriented Development, and station area re-designs. She has been involved with YPT locally in NYC since 2014.

Gabi is originally from Philadelphia and holds a B.S. in Community, Environment, and Development from Pennsylvania State University, as well as a masters degree in Regional and City Planning (MCRP) from Rutgers University. She is passionate about transportation planning and urban design because they are central to so many issues — resiliency, accessibility, climate change, environmental sustainability, equity, social mobility, education, and housing. She looks forward to working with YPT and sponsors in order to create a platform for young professionals to connect and learn from each other. Gabi loves to travel to new cities, volunteer, and recently, brave the streets of NYC on a bike.

Nick Ferenchak // McMahon Associates

YPT Philadelphia

Nick is a transportation engineer and planner with McMahon Associates outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and a PhD student at the University of Colorado Denver. He focuses on making active transportation a safe option for everyone, anything involving GIS, and grant proposals. The FHWA named him an Eisenhower Fellow for the 2015-2016 school year.

Nick is originally from Catasauqua, Pennsylvania. He received his Bachelor’s in Engineering Studies from Lafayette College, Master’s in Geography & Planning from West Chester University, and is pursuing his PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Colorado Denver. In his free-time, he enjoys reading, riding his bike, and working around the house

Responsibilities
Plan/oversee events in conjunction with major conferences
Support chapter programming, especially when major conferences are held near chapters
Coordinate events with the Director of Finance and the Director of Membership


Director of Chapter Development

Alvaro Villagran

YPT Chicago

Alvaro Villagran is an international transportation planner and transportation historian. Born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina, he resides in Chicago, IL. He holds a Master in Urban Planning and Public Policy from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and a Masters in Arts in History from Northwestern University.

Alvaro joined YPT in 2016. Since then, he has served as YPT-Chicago Chapter Chair for Programs, Deputy Chair, and currently the chapter’s Chair. He is always looking for opportunities to connect with other transportation-minded people, learn about how transportation solutions evolve in different contexts, and promote conversations between people with similar interests and different backgrounds. In addition to YPT, he is a member of Transport Chicago’s steering committee, and a volunteer at The Recyclery, an educational bike shop. In his free-time, he enjoys biking, cooking, and traveling.

Responsibilities
Communicate with local chapter leadership and hold monthly chapter calls
Assist interested individuals in establishing new YPT chapters
Assist chapters with day-to-day chapter management
Monitor chapters with low or changing membership numbers
Serve as a liaison between chapter leadership and International Directors

YPT Seattle

Yes Segura, is an Autonomous Vehicle (AV) Transportation Planner, Urban Designer, and Cartographer. He is the Nation’s first Autonomous Vehicle Transportation Planner, who has devoted his career to planning cities for self-driving cars. His most recent work with AV Planning has received a National AICP award, in which he worked with the Florida Department of Transportation on identifying policies & infrastructure investments for the State of Florida. This work has inspired him to start his business Smash the Box (StBox) Planning, where he helps cities plan for AVs and other disruptive transportation technologies.
