Position Overview

This position leads the Service Planning & Costing group’s efforts to clearly communicate our route and service financial evaluations, analysis, and state payment forecasts to a broad range of audiences, both internal and external. The position is the primary support to the Senior Manager and Director in working with the State Supported Service Committee through the State Corridors Service Line and other Amtrak departments in evaluating and applying revisions to the PRIIA 209 Cost Methodology and application to state corridor service plans and capital investment plans.

This position conducts analysis and evaluations as required for route and service change proposals, service and asset line plans, and Staff Summaries. The incumbent communicates the results and basis used to develop financial forecasts.The position also serves as financial lead for state supported routes in designated region, preparing annual forecasts and service change evaluations.

Board Opportunity: ASCE’s T&DI

The Transportation & Development Institute (T&DI) of ASCE is a specialty membership organization focused on transportation and development professionals and the transportation and development industry. It is one of the American Society of Civil Engineer’s nine specialty Institutes. T&DI is currently looking for a young member representative for the FY18 Board of Governors.

1-Year Younger Member Appointed Position: The member serving in the Younger Member position on the Board of Governors must meet the ASCE definition as a younger member. This definition is currently age 35 or under. A candidate for this position must meet the definition as a younger member at the time of appointment. Additional consideration will be given to a candidate that will be a younger member for the entire term. The Younger Member Governor is expected to participate in the 2-3 annual face-to-face meetings and also the monthly teleconference meetings of the Board. The Younger Member Governor may be appointed to serve as the Chair of the T&DI Younger Member Committee that is responsible for developing programs and services for the Institute’s younger members. The time required for this position is approximately 5-8 hours per month. Travel on authorized T&DI business is reimbursed in accordance with T&DI policy.

General Criteria: All positions require that the potential candidate be a member in good standing of both T&DI and ASCE at the time of nomination and must keep their membership in good standing for the entire time while serving on the Board of Governors. A candidate for the Younger Member position on the Board must meet the ASCE definition of a younger member in addition to being a member in good standing.

If interested in being considered as a candidate for any position on the Board of Governors you must submit a short (5 pages maximum) resume of your experience. If you have been active in T&DI’s activities those should be highlighted. You should also include activities in other organizations that would benefit T&DI along with a statement (150 words or less) of why you should be considered for the Board of Governors.
