Who we are

NikYoung Professionals in Transportation Burlington is Vermont’s only organization providing professional development, fellowship, and networking opportunities to aspiring and current transportation professionals alike. The organization aims to help Burlington become a better place to start and sustain a career in all transportation related fields. Our varied events are excellent chances to come out and meet other young transportation professionals, network, make new friends, and get involved in our great organization.

YPT does not have an age-restricted definition of ‘young.’ Anyone is welcome to take advantage of our activities and become a YPT member or friend.

When we meet

We typically hold a Monthly Happy Hour the first Wednesday of every month (sometimes the second Wednesday) from 6pm – 8pm. We also hold our monthly board meeting from 5(ish)pm-6pm. The board meetings are open to all, so please feel free to stop by early if you’d like to lend a hand or have a drink with us ahead of the Happy Hour.

We also hold other exciting events and tours from time to time for our members and friends. Check out our Calendar of Events to see what is happening.

The main line was completed in 1923 after 9 years of construction; President Warren G. Harding traveled to Alaska for the occasion and personally drove in the Golden Spike to finish the job. In 1943, the Railroad completed a 12-mile spur to the tiny port town of Whittier. In total, the Alaska Railroad provides regularly scheduled passenger service along 482 miles of track – an expanse greater than the distance between #Boston and #Washington, D.C. #friday #trains #transportation Check this amazing #sunset shot, shared by our equally amazing Director of Chapter Development @wbybanana.
