Name: Jeff Ultee
Position for Nomination: Vice Chair for Administration
I am pleased to accept the nomination for Vice Chair of Administration. I am about to begin my fourth year in YPT. I first joined the organization as a graduate student at Georgia Tech in Atlanta. I completed a dual master’s program in urban planning and civil engineering. I then lived in Philadelphia for six months interning for an MPO. Then, just two months ago, I moved to Nashville to begin full time work doing travel demand modeling for TDOT. I am excited to have joined my third chapter of YPT, and I feel even greater enthusiasm at the possibility of serving on the Board this year.
The Vice Chair of Administration position appeals to me as someone who takes notes regularly and values accurate recordkeeping. I take notes at practically every talk, including YPT events, even when most others do not. I enjoy later being able to reference the details of an event, whether it be simply to recap for a colleague or to use in a paper. I also document personal calls to businesses, recording the date and time of the call, the phone number, the name of the agent with whom I spoke, and the details of the call. This has allowed me to resolve disputes that may later arise. Professionally, when interning at the City of Orlando in 2013, I recorded, prepared, and distributed meeting minutes. I see myself as having the notetaking experience and organizational ability to contribute to the Board in this capacity.
From years of involvement in several transportation-related organizations, I have found YPT especially valuable in regularly connecting with local professionals. With these professionals, we share a passion for promoting sustainable transportation. YPT also has been great for learning about various transportation topics and happenings in the area. I now would like to further my involvement by contributing my talents to the YPT Board. I ask for your full consideration in your voting decision. Thank you very much.
