Name: Allison Plattsmier
Position for Nomination: Chair
My name is Allison Plattsmier and I currently serve as the Associate Director of Programs and Development for the Transit Alliance of Middle Tennessee. I am a second year graduate student in Vanderbilt’s Community Development and Action program. I will be graduating in December and then pursuing my Doctorate of Education in Leadership and Professional Practice at Trevecca. I believe that my position with the Transit Alliance makes me an excellent candidate for the Chair, Deputy Chair, and Secretary positions. In my position as Associate Director, I am in charge of managing board relations, preparing agendas, and recording/distributing the minutes after board meetings. Additionally, I believe I would also be a good fit for Programming and Communications due to my heavy involvement in planning TAMT’s major programs. I am in charge of planning both the Transit Citizen Leadership Academy and the Transit Government Leaders Conference. Both programs requires recruiting participants, recruiting speakers, securing food, managing logistics, and handling the social media promotion and media relations for both. Finally, I believe my status as a student makes me an excellent fit for the Collegiate chair. I have always been actively engaged on campus, both during undergraduate and graduate school. I have a keen ability to network and engage students in a cause. Ultimately, I believe serving on the board of YPT is an excellent opportunity to expand my knowledge and a superb professional development opportunity. I am interested in making long lasting partnerships with like minded individuals in the pursuit of establishing transportation solutions for our growing region.
