Name: Jeff Ultee
Position for Nomination: Vice Chair for Finance
I am pleased to accept the nomination for Vice Chair of Finance. I am about to begin my fourth year in YPT. I first joined the organization as a graduate student at Georgia Tech in Atlanta. I completed a dual master’s program in urban planning and civil engineering. I then lived in Philadelphia for six months interning for an MPO. Then, just two months ago, I moved to Nashville to begin full time work doing travel demand modeling for TDOT. I am excited to have joined my third chapter of YPT, and I feel even greater enthusiasm at the possibility of serving on the Board this year.
The Vice Chair of Finance position appeals to me as someone with a meticulous and detail-oriented personality. I manage my personal finances monthly with a detailed spreadsheet showing every bill, the status of that bill (unpaid, pending, paid), the balances of each bank account, the amount in the account after pending transactions, and the amount in the account when all bills are paid. I make careful decisions based on that. I pay bills on time, and I have not overdrawn an account. I check the Mint.com app on my phone throughout the day. Also, when living with roommates, I maintain a spreadsheet designed for complex financial situations. Being methodical about funds in my personal life, I see myself as successfully able to manage YPT’s funds and report the details of various transactions.
From years of involvement in several transportation-related organizations, I have found YPT especially valuable in regularly connecting with local professionals. With these professionals, we share a passion for promoting sustainable transportation. YPT also has been great for learning about various transportation topics and happenings in the area. I now would like to further my involvement by contributing my talents to the YPT Board. I ask for your full consideration in your voting decision. Thank you very much.
