Name: David Morse
Position for Nomination: Vice Chair for Programming
I have a great desire to continue my involvement with the YPT-Nashville board by running for the Vice Chair of Programming position for the 2016-2017 term. Having been a charter member and having held this position for the first year, I have seen what it takes to be a successful contributor to the YPT-Nashville chapter. Providing a variety of unique event opportunities for our members and friends is key for chapter growth. I feel that I am fully capable of this role and maintaining the current momentum that YPT-N has.
If selected, I know that my fellow board members can count on me to deliver timely responses, prompt decisions and unique event ideas going forward. I will work hard to look for event opportunities that provide our affiliates with an exciting learning experience as well as with other professional chapters, such as ASCE-Younger Members, Transit Now, Walk-Bike Nashville and others. This will contribute towards the overall goal of membership growth, which is what I strive for. Under my role in this position, I would welcome all ideas and would want it to be transparent amongst other board members. Ultimately, I want to continue bringing transportation professionals and students together with monthly events so that the next great idea may be shared in Middle Tennessee!
I have worked here in Nashville for the past 7 years at WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff as a transportation engineer. My main focus is in highway design across the state of Tennessee, although I have done some work for our Georgia, Florida and Virginia offices as well. I have worked on projects for TDOT, MTA, MPO and city governments during my tenure at WSP | PB and am also a member of ASCE and ASHE. I have a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Western Kentucky University and a M.E. in Construction Management from Vanderbilt University.
Thank you for your consideration!
