Job Description and Duties

Will Consider Transportation Planner.

Under direction of the Branch Chief for the Office of Corridor and System Planning (OCSP), the Associate Transportation Planner will work independently to perform difficult and complex, wide ranging system planning project deliverables and services including supporting and leading the development, review, analysis, and implementation of programs, directives, and guidance to further Caltrans’ strategic goals and plans. Job duties may include but is not limited to supporting major efforts such as the Corridor Tiering Process, Planning for Project Delivery Dashboard, District Strategic Plan Guide, Emphasis Area Guides, Caltrans Corridor Planning Guide (CCPG), SB1 Program, Feasibility Studies, and State/Locally Sponsored PID project nominations.

Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Associate Transportation Planner / Transportation Planner
 exam. Working Conditions

Position located at 1120 N Street, Sacramento, Sacramento County

Multiple positions may be filled from this recruitment.

Employees may be required to sit for long periods of time using a keyboard and video display terminal. The incumbent works in front of a dual-monitor computer system under artificial light in an office setting with long periods of working in a sitting or standing position.

This position may be eligible for telework. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and based on Caltrans current telework policy. While Caltrans supports telework, in-person attendance may be required based on operational needs. Employees are expected to be able to report to their worksite with minimal notification if an urgent need arises. The selected candidate may be required to conduct business travel on behalf of the Department or commute to the headquartered location. Business travel reimbursements considers an employee’s designated Headquarters location, primary residence, and may be subject to CalHR regulations or applicable bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the headquartered location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
