Kaitlyn Kong

Kaitlyn Kong (she/her) is a Transportation Planner within the Transportation Group at HDR in Walnut Creek, CA. Kaitlyn is involved in the planning of various roadway, corridor, transit, and active transportation projects. Her tasks include corridor design studies and analysis, road safety analysis, multimodal street design reports and plans, preparation of plans and documents, and project management tasks with projects for local and state agencies. Kaitlyn is currently Youth Member Chair of WTS, Director of Finance for the YPT Bay Area Chapter, Southwest Regional Liaison for YPT International, and active advocate with the Bike East Bay non-profit.  Before joining her team at HDR, she interned at Fehr and Peers in San Jose, CA, and spent two years in the public sector at MPO/COGs in the Carolinas. She is passionate about connecting transportation back to the experience of the public and ensuring our transportation infrastructure progresses towards a sustainable, accessible, and equitable future. Kaitlyn obtained a bachelors in Environmental Sciences from UNC Chapel Hill and moved out west to pursue a masters in City Planning from UC Berkeley. During her time in college, Kaitlyn was closely involved with her school’s Planning Student Association student chapter and helped organize admission, recruitment, and social activities. When not involved in various transportation-related nerd activities, Kaitlyn enjoys playing dodgeball, flag-football, and volleyball leagues, CrossFit, trying new restaurants, and podcasts (especially 99pi).
