Tyler Valila is a Transportation Engineer based in the Bedford, New Hampshire office for HDR and has over eight years of experience. Proudly born and raised in Gardner, Massachusetts, Tyler attended the University of Massachusetts, Lowell and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering in 2016. Afterwards, he attended the University of Florida where he performed transportation research with the UF Transportation Institute and completed his thesis and earned his Masters in Civil Engineering in 2017. In his current role with HDR, Tyler specializes in transportation studies, concept development, cost estimating, and final design in the realm of complete streets, alternative intersections, and bike/pedestrian facilities.

Tyler has been actively involved with Young Professionals in Transportation for over 6 years, co-founding the Orlando chapter in 2020, and now serving as the International Director of Chapter Development. Tyler also manages HDR’s involvement with YPT International. In Tyler’s free time, he enjoys observing art, riding his bike, rooting on his Florida Gators, and teaching our industry’s young professionals important professional development skills. Above all else, Tyler enjoys life’s adventures with his wife and their cat!
