Duties and Responsibilities: * The candidate will be responsible for civil design tasks for projects involving storm water management, drainage systems, as well as water distribution systems, sanitary sewer conveyance systems, and pump stations. * Participate on project teams to plan and design NCDOT and municipal storm water, water and wastewater infrastructure facilities * Perform hydrologic and hydraulic studies and design using hydrologic and hydraulic software * Prepare contract documents including reports, plans, specifications, and cost estimates * Be highly proficient in AutoCAD and/or Microstation as well ESRI GIS software Talent is the essence of meeting our client’s objectives, goals and challenges. Minimum Qualifications: *Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Hydraulics, Water Resources, or a related field from an ABET-accredited program *3+ years of relevant experience with Civil engineering principles and practices and project experience in some or all of the following areas: *Storm water management and drainage system design Bridge hydraulic/scour analysis; flood control; and other water resource projects *Potable water distribution systems, and wastewater conveyance systems and pump stations *Strong skills in AutoCAD or Microstation/GeoPak *Excellent written and verbal communication skills *EI Certification (or currently qualified for the next EI exam) is desirable *Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. *Ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. Preferred Qualifications: * Professional Civil Engineer (P.E.) license or ability to obtain North Carolina P.E. within 6 months preferred * Prior experience with North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) or City of Charlotte stormwater projects * Affiliations with professional societies and active industry and community involvement are highly desirable |
